JOB DESCRIPTION: Social Media Specialist

 

The Social Media Specialist will work across multiple social platforms, implement various applications and report results on an array of social campaigns. This role requires vast knowledge of all social media development and usage and a minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience. Your role will be an integral part of a larger strategic marketing plan.

Duties / Responsibilities  

  • Develop and assist with the implementation of actionable strategies on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, Yelp and TripAdvisor and other channels.
  • Act as a community manager across all client platforms, consistently monitoring and concisely communicating with target audiences.
  • Draft monthly content calendars.
  • Work closely with graphic designer to execute social media creative needs.
  • Plan and implement compelling social media campaigns for multiple clients, including, but not limited to: Facebook App development, Facebook Advertising/Ad Management and contests.
  • Track and monitor the success of social media initiatives and provide monthly reports for clients.
  • Develop and implement Facebook ad campaigns including targeting methods, copy and images and budget/timeline recommendations.
  • Serve as an agency resource, educating clients and staff on effective social media campaigns, social analytics, new reporting or listening tools and industry trends.
  • Monitor client competitors and trends.
  • Update social media playbook regularly.
  • Liaise with agency partners and digital influencers as needed.
  • Establish social media strategy and brand voice for new clients.
  • Participate in new business proposals and pitches when necessary.
  • Regularly update project management software including time entry.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications or related field.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience and deep understanding of creating and executing impactful and engaging social media campaigns. Agency experience preferred.
  • Vast knowledge of ins and outs of all relevant platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, Yelp and TripAdvisor. And whatever new platform came out yesterday.
  • Experience in photo and/or video editing within a social context. A picture is worth a thousand words!
  • Knowledge of social insights and social advertising insights. Do you know what makes people tick…and click?
  • Background in crafting and managing paid social media campaigns. #sponsoredpost
  • Familiar with social connectivity (i.e. linkage between proper social platforms).
  • Strong copywriter with the ability to understand, adapt and execute use of brand voice and an exceptional attention to detail. This is the one time in life having multiple personalities is a good thing.
  • Comfortable working in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment. Seriously, rocket fast. It’s crazy and we love it.
  • Hardworking, flexible individual with integrity and a positive attitude. We don’t think that’s not too much to ask for.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as collaborate as an effective team member. Giddy up and round up the posse.
  • Flexible hours – nights, weekends and holidays. Because social media never sleeps.
  • Comfortable presenting recommendations and results in face-to-face client meetings. When the heat is on, do you shine or boil over?

INTERNSHIPS

 

One of our passions as an agency is to foster young talent and help them learn about the industry. We offer year-round internship programs that are intended to provide real life exposure across a variety of disciplines within the agency. Our internships offer a wealth of knowledge and exposure to young professionals who are looking to break into the field. We typically accept two to three interns per semester for our SPARK Internship Program which runs January – May, May – August and August – December. Fall 2017 Communications Internship


Summary: SPARK Strategic Ideas is a strategic branding firm that focuses on integrating advertising, marketing, public relations and social media to maximize results for their clients. Based in Charlotte, NC, SPARK puts together a customized team of strategic planners, designers, web developers, media planners/buyers, PR professionals and social media experts for each client based on their needs and has a proven record of building programs that result in increased brand awareness and sales.


An unpaid internship with SPARK is designed to provide an immersive educational experience through participation and assistance in all facets of a full-service agency. Interns should be able to work approximately 15 hours/week.

Primary Functions:

  • Research projects
  • Creative brainstorming
  • Writing and editing including but not limited to social media, news releases & website copy
  • Assist with media relations efforts, including searching for and maintaining media contact lists, writing news releases and potentially working with members of the media
  • Compiling “clips” of media placements and social media postings for clients
  • Assist with file management system for current, past projects and archival materials
  • Working with vendors to obtain estimates
  • Deliveries to clients and for the agency
  • Some data entry, clerical and office assistant responsibilities
  • Other duties as assigned (No day or assignment is the same)
     

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Majoring in the Communications/PR/Marketing field and/or comparable industry
  • Strong written skills across a variety of formats (able to adapt voice and content)
  • Experience: writing, editing, market research, design, AP style writing
  • Competent with MS Office Suite
  • Ability to work individually and as a team member
